AIP Vice Presidential Candidate Dr. Robert “Battle Ax” Ornelas has been working with urban and Latino communities throughout the U.S. and Mexico since 1998. He has worked in schools, outreaches, prisons, federal prisons, churches, adolescent treatment and drug rehab centers to name a few. He has used his evangelistic message through Hip-Hop and has encouraged many with his testimony of his life changing experience. He is now urging Latinos to rise up and vote. A record 23.7 million Latinos are eligible to vote in the 2012 Presidential Election, according to an analysis of Census Bureau data by the Pew Hispanic Center. However, the turnout rate of eligible Latino voters has historically lagged that of whites and blacks by substantial margins. In 2008, for example, 50% of eligible Latino voters cast ballots, compared with 65% of blacks and 66% of whites. Also, despite Latino population growth, the number of Latinos who said they are registered to vote fell by about 600,000 between 2008 and 2010, according to Census Bureau data. This was the only significant decline in the number of Latino registered voters in the past two decades.

“This is the season for all to be heard. In a few weeks young and old will determine the future that we will live in. I have worked with many different Latin communities in this country and have heard young people and college students complain that they are not being heard. This year I have been focusing on eligible voters from ages of 18-29 encouraging them to make a difference. My prayer is that the 24 million eligible Latin voters in this country would rise up in this hour to make history. It’s time for us to vote in a leadership that believes in principal. YOU CAN BE A VOICE! John 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.”
