One of the big issues in the world today is religious freedom. Almost every time the news is on, the media is having some type of religious argument or protest regarding faith and freedom. People just don’t like to admit the fact that most of the people in America and in the world have a voice and practice a faith. I have noticed a bad change of events coming against the Christian faith in America. Just because we have a different belief on issues, the media makes it seem that we are wrong for our religious views. However, on the other hand, it appears that it’s alright for everyone else to speak regarding their beliefs.
I wonder what they think religious freedom means. It means everyone has the freedom to believe, practice and preach their religious beliefs. We must grow up and understand that every citizen in America has a right to religious freedoms. This means they have a right to believe in their own God or form of God, but so do I as a Christian.
In speaking out on my faith, I will never shut up to appease anyone. At the same time, others have that same right as well. Unfortunately, what makes this a challenge is if I, as a christian, don’t agree with everyone else’s views and faith, then I’m considered wrong for my beliefs. However, the First Amendment gives every citizen the right to freedom of speech and religion. Therefore, I will boldly use my voice to stand for my views and faith. I will always exercise my power and free speech in the voting box whether it goes against popular opinion or not.
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.
